Missouri modernizing motor vehicle and driver license system

Big changes are coming to the Missouri Department of Revenue’s (DOR) motor vehicle and driver license system. A new system will be rolled out in two phases, offering more e-services, mobile identification credentials and streamline transactions with an easier efficient process to improve customer service.

Afterwards, driver license records, issuance, withdrawal, and more will be available as e-services.Driver license modernization includes the record system, issuance, withdrawal, reinstatement and other driver license services. All will be implemented in the new modernized system. Additional e-services will be available for submitting reinstatement documents and paying fees, accessing public records and account enrollment to access specific driver record information.

DOR says it felt the changes were necessary to phase out aging outdated software. It also will replace nearly 50 different systems with this two-phase implementation. The only non-changes are the hours of operation for the DMV’s of Missouri, and all current driver licenses and nondriver ID cards remain active until their expiration date.
