The REAL ID legislation allowed for the inclusion of driver licence standards. With acknowledgement of mobile driver licences, Maryland has seen adoption and interest rise on the basis of what is considered REAL ID in the regulation. Christine Nizer, Administrator at the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration spoke about their residents proudly storing their mobile ID in Apple or Samsung wallets. That’s why they have collaborated with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to allow mDLs issued in Maryland to be accepted at these major checkpoints for seamless travel.
